The key to any successful therapy is to build a trusting relationship between a therapist and a client. I am here to listen and to help you explore your thoughts and feelings, which can sometimes feel confusing and overwhelming. I offer a secure, non- judgemental, professional and confidential environment where we work together to try and make sense of how you are feeling.
Thank you for contacting Katie Lawton at KL Counselling, which is the website for my counselling practice. I hold a BA Hons and a Diploma in Integrative Humanistic counselling and am a Registered and Accredited member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I have a background in working with adolescents and adults and follow the BACP Ethical framework, with regular supervision to ensure that I am practicing safely and ethically. Alongside my private practice I work as a secondary school counsellor. I have also had experience working for a Youth counselling charity and for a charity that supports families affected by addiction. I attend regular courses and workshops to make sure that I am up to date with the latest research on working with anxiety, depression, suicidal thoughts, self harm, bereavement and relationship issues. You will find further information on some of these issues here. I also hold a current DBS Certificate. I hope that in building a relationship together, we will work to explore your feelings and ultimately to enable you to take responsibility for yourself and your choices. Working with adults and adolescents is something that I am passionate about and I endeavour to put this across in my work with you.
